On Saturday 29th February we held our very first ‘Leap Year’ Wedding here at Brean Country Club. Natasha and Mark were married at St John the Baptist Church in Wellington, with 60 of their family & friends in attendance to witness the couples’ special moment.
We saw almost every season in one day as a result of unwelcome guest, ‘Storm Jorge’, but, luckily, we were gifted with a short break in the weather as the guests started to arrive at the Country Club for the Wedding reception. Guests were greeted with a selection of canapés and a glass of Prosecco to enjoy while they waited for the Bride and Groom – who arrived at the Country Club in style, in a vintage 1920’s car.
The Bride and Groom had a photo session with Damian Wills photography before heading to begin the traditional Wedding Breakfast in our Kestrel Suite.
The Kestrel Suite had been decorated in the Bride and Groom’s chosen theme – royal blue tones were complimented by pops of yellow from fresh sunflowers provided by Eden Florists, which were dotted across the tables on log slices. The theme beautifully echoed the Bride and Groom’s wedding attire. Natasha held a gorgeous bouquet of sunflowers and bluebells, and wore a stunning one shoulder, ivory lace wedding dress with a cathedral veil. Mark’s royal blue suit, complete with a pinned sunflower and yellow tie that matched his Bride’s bouquet wonderfully. The Bridesmaids completed the look perfectly in their lovely royal blue dresses.
The Wedding party feasted on a delicious three course meal, which included roast tomato soup with basil oil to start, and for mains; Belmont Estate rare breed pork with crackling, scrumpy cider jus, crushed baby potatoes and braised red cabbage. Dessert was delicious vanilla crème filled profiteroles, drenched in butterscotch sauce.
Mark and best-man Phil led the speeches and thanked friends and family for helping to make their day extra special. Family members then joined the Bride and Groom in the lounge area for photos whilst the suite was set-up for the evening’s festivities.
During the evening reception a choice of three cakes were on available for guests to fill up on; the traditional sweet Wedding cake; a ‘pork pie cake’ and a ‘cheese’ cake - which was comprised of a choice of five different types of cheese. The cheese could be enjoyed with a selection of chutney, crisps, crackers, fresh bread and grapes.
The evening party was kickstarted by our resident DJ, who played songs which the guests had requested on their Wedding invites. Guests were entertained by a fun photo prop mirror and danced the night away to a selection of brilliant songs.
A fantastic day was had by everyone and we thank you for allowing us to be part of your special day, from all of the team at Brean Country Club.
